“‘Low-alcohol is a higher opportunity than no-alc, but together they’re nearly half a billion dollars of revenue for the industry,” said Christine Mahaffy, manager of insights at Republic National Distributing Company, in a Jan. 8 webinar presented by Wine Market Council (WMC). If wine has less than 7% ABV, the label must provide nutritional information, which Mahaffy said is very appealing for younger consumers. Rather than focus on the ABV, experts said the industry should look at no and low-alcohol wines as a means of expanding on wine drinking occasions.”
