Today’s Most Interesting Wine Industry Data
“Originally intended to offset the cost of wine poured, tasting fees today have evolved due to a frothy consumer market and the addition of more diverse and extravagant experiences. With this sample, the average standard tasting fee is $42, and the reserve tasting fee is now $76, which means a group of four could end up paying over $350. In 2014 that amount was $104 for a group of four. Will new consumers be willing to pay such fees in the future? A few wineries have experimented with eliminating fees altogether. While some abhor the idea, it’s worthwhile to experiment and reevaluate after reviewing the data.”
