“The figure shows China’s wine production and consumption, and net imports from the world and from Australia, 2014 to 2022 (ML). The decline in China’s local wine production may be a consequence of new domestic producers disinvesting because their earlier profit expectations were not realized. The production decline might have slowed once the tariff was imposed on imports from Australia, had it not coincided with COVID.”
