In concert with declining alcohol consumption between 1986 and 1994, there was movement in beverage choices beneath the surface. The year following the airing of The French Paradox, red wine sales in the United States jumped nearly 40 percent. Adding to the growth was the wealth created in the US stock market in the 1990s, arising from the internet boom.”
