Rohnert Park, CA - The Concierge Alliance of Napa Valley and Sonoma (CANVAS) has created a scholarship that will support an individual working towards completing the Tasting Room Management Certificate at Sonoma State’s Wine Business Institute this fall. The scholarship will include funds to pay for the certificate program and membership in CANVAS for 2 years.

The CANVAS organization supports and strengthens the hospitality community by providing its over 1,000 Hospitality Professional Members in Wine Country with education, networking events, training, an annual Trade Show and an interactive informational website. “To the degree that our Hospitality Professionals are well networked, informed and educated they will do an outstanding job of matching our visitors with the best experience for their interests. I’m very excited to provide both classroom support as well as experience and contacts within the community through CANVAS membership; both of which will help build a strong foundation for their future career,” says Colby Smith, Founder of CANVAS. Individuals interested in applying for the scholarship need to complete a simple application and send that with a cover letter and current resume by October 1st, to Jessica Heing, program coordinator for the Wine Business Institute.

In order to earn the certificate one must complete eight 4-hour seminars that are offered on the SSU campus. The fall seminar schedule for the Wine Business Institute has been released and registration is now open. Many contributors from last spring will be returning to teach this round of seminars including Rick Boland of Moss Adams and Andrew Healy of 3 Rock Marketing. All seminars are taught by wine industry professionals with topics spanning accounting and budgeting, sales and wine club management to social media and wine marketing.

These seminars are open to the public and may be taken individually or together to earn a Tasting Room Management Certificate. The program is designed to be completed in one semester or at the participant’s own pace. There are no prerequisites and all seminars are held on campus at Sonoma State in Rohnert Park. Tuition for each class is $180; if you sign up before a week in advance you will receive a $30 discount.
