Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate is now on-line
The Society of Wine Educators has announced that it now offers its Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate (HBSC) program on-line. The HBSC is an entry-level beverage program for the hospitality and culinary industries and their employees. The program provides a broad base of knowledge, covering all commercially relevant beverages, including water, coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, sake, cider, wine, and spirits & mixology. All of these topics are now presented in a comprehensive online course, complete with study aids and practice quizzes.
“There has been a huge demand for this material in a convenient format,” says Shields Hood, general manager of the Society of Wine Educators. “By putting the entire learning process on-line, we have made a huge step in that direction. It clearly puts this program and the SWE at the forefront of beverage education, not just in America, but in the world.”
Successful completion of the Online HBSC Exam – conveniently accessible after registration – will earn candidates the Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate. Once candidates have purchased the HBSC Registration through the SWE Online Store, they will receive an email within 48 hours providing their login information to the Online Course. They can then study at their own pace. At the end of the study course, candidates will receive one hour to complete the 40-multiple-choice question exam. All exam questions are drawn from the HBSC Study Guide.
