David Tonus Named Estate Educator
As part of these exciting visitor’s center additions, Hahn Family Wines appointed industry veteran David Tonus as Estate Educator. In this role, Tonus will oversee some aspects of the visitor’s experience, including the development of new wine educational programs, and hosting tours and tastings at Hahn Estate. With more than 25 years of wine industry experience, Tonus has a deep background in wines sales, marketing, and brand development. Prior to joining Hahn Family Wines, he was a principle at Pacific Wine Associates where he led sales, marketing, and distribution strategies for dozens of wineries. He will also bring a wealth of knowledge about viticulture and winemaking from his degree in Enology at U.C. Davis.
”Hahn has always stood out as one of the pioneers and leading advocates for the Santa Lucia Highlands,” says President Bill Leigon. “With the hiring of David Tonus and launch of these exciting new visitor’s experiences, we aim to cement our standing as a major destination for wine and epicurean education.”
About Hahn Family Wines
Hahn Family Wines was established by Nicolaus (“Nicky”) and Gaby Hahn in the late 1970’s when they purchased land in Monterey County. In 1988, sensing the potential of the region, Nicky Hahn became a catalyst for the Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) appellation by spearheading efforts to establish an American Viticulture Area (AVA) for this wine growing region. Today Hahn Family Wines owns one of the largest shares of planted vines in the region with more than 650 SLH vineyard acres that range in elevation from 200 to 1,200 feet and offer a diverse selection of terroir for producing Pinot Noir and other varietals. These wines are made to fit any occasion or celebration, from everyday wines for dinner to a complex, elegant vineyard-designate Pinot Noir perfect for cellaring or toasting some of life’s biggest milestones. Hahn Family Wines includes Hahn Winery, Hahn SLH Estate, and Lucienne. Visit www.hahnestate.com or download a free Hahn Family Wines phone application from iTunes or Android Market.
