Booths for 2013 Event Already 55% Booked
Santa Rosa, CA – The 2012 Midwest Grape & Wine Conference and Trade Show, which took place February 9th through the 12th, was a great success, with attendance up approximately 20% compared to the 2011 event. The 2013 conference is gearing up to be another winner with 55% of the trade show booths already booked.
Total attendance at the event was over 1,000. Thirteen Midwest states were represented, and fourteen industry associations representing seven states endorsed the 4-day conference and trade show, which hosted 170 booths, up from 130 in 2011.
Conference Director Rozanna Benz was thrilled with the attendance. “The St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Missouri is a lovely venue, and we were very pleased with the conference. We are starting to gear up for the 2013 event, which promises to be even better.”
Various social events took place at the conference, including a Riedel Wine Glass tasting, Wine & Dine, a four course wine and food experience, and Tour de VIN, with five states showcasing their states’ wines.
Several new sessions were also offered during the four day event, including:
o Basic Viticulture – from Vine to Wine, moderated by Dr. Keith Striegler. This session was very well received.
o In Short Sessions, 10 on 1 – Moderated by Elizabeth Slater of In Short Direct Marketing. Two of these sessions sold out in only two days.
The Midwest Grape & Wine Conference’s ability to bring in high-profile speakers such as Striegler and Slater is one of the many reasons why this is the 3rd largest conference and trade show in the Midwest.
New for 2013, the conference has been shortened to three days, instead of the usual four, and new and exciting marketing programs are in the works. More basic viticulture and enology sessions are also planned for next year’s conference.
