Advanced Seminar at Sonoma State to Focus on Exit Strategy

Submitted By: Lewis Perdue, March 21, 2012
On the heels of their highly acclaimed recent seminar on “Successful Distribution Strategies”, wine industry pros, Michael Houlihan, founder of Barefoot Wines and Martin Jones, leading drinks company CEO, return to Sonoma State University to share their knowledge of how to get the most from your company or brand.

Many winery owners have no intention or desire to sell their companies, but they should be managing their business as if they intend to sell it tomorrow. Value creation is not only important in preparing for a transaction, but it can also be critical to ongoing operations such as raising capital and entering strategic partnerships.

Together they provide the benefit of their real world experience in a 4-hour seminar at SSU March 23, 2012. “Exit Strategy, Brand Building, and Value”

Brand equity trumps real estate in most acquisitions. Understanding how value is created in the affordable luxury wine industry is the first step in developing a growth platform or exit strategy. Since value is measured by the investor or buyer, business owners must target the drivers of value in their day-to-day operating plans. This course is designed for owners, investors, M&A agents and institutional lenders. Register online.

Michael Houlihan and Martin Jones bring over fifty years of experience from all areas of the beverage alcohol industry. They have built and guided major brands and companies from startup to leadership to exit. Working directly with owners, they identify and help correct weaknesses, guiding organizations through uncharted territory and positioning them for competitive advantage.

Enrollment for the course is through Sonoma State University School of Extended Education. The registration office can be reached at 707-664-2394.
