DENVER (March 13, 2012) - Nomacorc, a leading wine closure manufacturer, will sponsor the 2012 Colorado Twitter Taste-off at the fourth annual DrinkLocalWine conference, set for April 28 in Denver.
“We continue to see more and more consumers turning to social media sites to help determine their next wine purchase,” said Jeff Slater, director of global marketing for Nomacorc. “By supporting the Nomacorc-Colorado Twitter Taste-off, we will encourage others to share their experiences online and educate potential consumers within the wine community.”
The Nomacorc-Colorado Twitter Taste-off will feature 24 of the state's top wineries, each pouring two wines. Participants, including invited media and consumers, will be able to taste the wines and then tweet about what they taste. Their comments are displayed on screens at the taste-off, and everyone involved can follow the discussion -- which often takes in Twitter followers around the world. You can follow the conversation on Twitter on April 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. using the hashtags #drinklocal, #colwine and #Nomacorc.
“One of the best parts about the DLW conference is the Taste-off,” said Pennsylvania wine blogger Dave Falchek, who attended the conferences in Virginia and Missouri and will attend again this year. “It’s so much fun to see the comments, and especially when so many realize that how good the wine is -- the quality and diversity of regional wine.”
The Twitter Taste-off is a hallmark of DLW’s conference, and almost 10 million tweets, re-tweets and the like have been sent over the past three years. This year, the conference’s goal is eight million Twitter impressions.
“Nomacorc’s sponsorship is a testament to the great strides regional wine is making in quality and awareness,” said DLW president and co-founder Jeff Siegel. “The support of an international sponsor like Nomacorc indicates the interest and growing popularity of regional wine.”
DLW 2012 follows the success of the first three conferences -- in Dallas featuring Texas wine in 2009, in Loudoun County featuring Virginia wine in 2010, and in St. Louis featuring Missouri wine in 2011. DLW also holds an annual Regional Wine Week in October, in which more than 40 wine bloggers, writers and columnists from the U.S. and Canada write about their favorite regional wines, ranging from Ontario to New York to Florida to Texas to Colorado.
