MI: Grape Growers Cold Climate Conference (CCC), St. Paul, Feb 23-25

[St. Paul, Minnesota] The Minnesota Grape Growers Association will hold their annual Cold Climate Conference (CCC) at the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul Thursday, February 23 through Saturday, February 25. Named "A Cut Above," the conference focuses on Minnesota's rapidly expanding grape growing and wine making industry. Today there are over 1500 acres of vineyards and nearly 40 wineries making a significant economic impact in greater Minnesota.

Mayor Chris Coleman will declare February 24th as "Minnesota Cold Climate Grape & Wine Day" in the City of St. Paul.

Key features of the conference include:

The latest information and best practices in three key areas: viticulture (grape growing); enology (wine making); and the business aspects of the industry.

The Midwest Wine Stroll features cold climate wines from more than 30 local and regional wineries and food from local vendors. Limited supply of tickets available to the public at $45 each. See website for details.

Northern Grapes Symposium focusing on the Northern Grapes project, a 5-year, multi-state multidisciplinary research and outreach project funded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Specialty Crop Research Initiative. The symposium will introduce the Project, focusing on questions that the Project will address in grape production, fruit composition, enology, and understanding markets and consumers.

A silent auction to benefit the The Elmer Swenson Fund which awards scholarships to students pursuing degrees in the areas of viticulture and enology.
