Sequana Vineyards has introduced a 2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir with a suggested retail price of $38, crafted by winemaker James MacPhail from selected lots chosen from Sequana’s array of vineyards, including several in the Green Valley of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley.
Winemaker MacPhail now produces five distinct Pinot Noir wines in the Sequana portfolio:
2009 Russian River Valley ($38), a cuvée of top lots
2008 Sundawg Ridge Vineyard ($50), Green Valley
2009 Dutton Ranch Vineyard ($45), Green Valley
2008 Lakeview Vineyard ($45), Green Valley
2009 Santa Lucia Highlands ($32)
Sequana debuted with the 2007 vintage, offering limited release vineyard designate Pinot Noir from the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley and Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands.
Sequana is named in honor of the Franco-Roman Goddess of the River Seine, which flows through the ancestral birthplace of Pinot Noir in France. Winemaker James MacPhail oversees farming and winemaking, and is currently developing additional vineyards for Sequana in the Russian River.
