Angelo Sangiacomo, Legendary Sonoma Winegrower, Has Died | Wine Industry Insight

Angelo Clement Sangiacomo, a pioneering winegrower who helped revolutionize California grapegrowing and a founding partner of Sangiacomo Family Vineyards, a third generation family business in Sonoma, Calif., has died on Monday, February 27, 2023. He passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 92 years old.

Off-Premise Sales Value Falls 4%

Sales of domestic table and sparkling wines through NielsenIQ off-premise outlets approached $873 million in the four weeks ended Jan. 28, down 5% versus a year ago. Volume in the period fell 8% to 8.3 million cases. Table wines fell nearly 6% versus a year ago while sparkling wines, lifted by holiday tailwinds, gained 4%. Volumes fell in both cases, with table wines down more than 8% and sparkling wines down nearly 1%.
