TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
Lewis Perdue's Rating of David Clinton Wine Cellars: Zinfandel: Dry Creek Valley - Sonoma County - California: Unti Vineyard: 2012: United States
A couple of my old textbooks reveal a hidden confluence of factors behind the founders of a perennial favorite of mine.
Smooth, balanced tannins and oak, cherry and light pepper flavors. The fruit is a bit leaner in this vintage.
Sadly, this is the last vintage from the old vines at the Unti Vineyard in Sonoma Coiunty’s Dry Creek. Those vines have been ripped out.
WINE REVIEW POLICY: For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
