TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
Lewis Perdue's Rating of Mountain View Winery: Zinfandel: Amador County-California: Clockspring Vineyard: 2011: United States
This wine is about 3/4 there. This was pleasant and quaffable, but the shy, retiring fruit was a lot like a favorite rock band with the volume turned down too low: you have a hint there's something there, but you have to strain to figure it out.
Retail $19.99 a bottle ... but the price needs to be turned down to about $10 max.
Given that this is a negocianted-wine -- and the winery is now selling the 2012 -- I suspect that the problem is that the 2011 was not meant to age and is doing what it was intended to do.

Lew is sick of wasting most of his wine dollars on stuff he pours down the drain.
Will Buy No Wine Before He's Tried 'Em
So, for now on, Lew is not going to buy anything he has not tasted first.
Lew doesn't get many tasting samples, so this new direction means that you will see an increase in the number of different wines he buys from a single winery.

The old review policy still holds -- For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
