TODAY'S FEATURED WINE

Lewis Perdue's Rating of Bodegas Breca: Grenache/Garnacha/Garnatxa: Aragon - Spain: : 2012: Spain

I'm not digging this any more except to make a hole and bury it.

This wine has gone from prime to pathetic. It's now a faded, wimpy substandard version of previous vintages which were among my favorites in the under $10 range.

WARNING! This is the same wine name and label as previous vintages made from Catalonian Grenache/Garnacha by Jorge Ordonez. But this faded and pale imitation of those previous vintages is made by Bodegas Breca of Grenache/Garnacha from Aragon.Same label and same importer: Henry Wine Group.

Lovers of the previous vintage should realize this is like an old friend who has been invaded by a mediocre body snatcher.

The moral to this story is that you should not trust brands because brands can let you down. I regret buying six bottles of this turkey on brand trust alone.

 REVIEW POLICY:

For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
