TODAY'S FEATURED WINE

Lewis Perdue's Rating of Villa Toscano: Barbera: Shenandoah Valley - California: : 2013: United States

This was a pleasant surprise for sipping in the warm weather that we're having in California.

This is a white (not blush) made from the red Barbera grape and it's got great (faintly straw-colored) body with grapefruit and peach notes and the faintest hint of sweetness with plenty of tartness.

Stands up well with food and went well with our Quiche Lorraine. $26 retail.

 REVIEW POLICY:

For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
