TODAY'S FEATURED WINE

Becca Yeamans's Rating of Garrett Estate Cellars: Sauvignon Blanc: Colorado: : 2010: United States

BRETT BRETT BRETT! I never actually thought I had a nose for Brett, but sadly, this bad boy was overwhelming. I swear the nose got worse as it sat there. Of course, my husband said "I'll drink it, don't worry".

After attempting to get past the Brett, all I could really notice was how much like a Sauvignon Blanc this wine was NOT. It tasted sweet and juicy, but barely any hints of grapefruit or other "traditional" SB notes. If I had this wine blind, I would probably not be able to guess that it was a Sauvignon Blanc.

I'm going to give the producer the benefit of the doubt, as it is a relatively "old" wine by Colorado standards, and I purchased it from the friendly neighborhood liquor store.

I won't be purchasing this bottle again, unless I can be convinced otherwise through a tasting, but not a whole bottle purchase.

 REVIEW POLICY:

For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
