TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
Ponzi Vineyards: Pinot Noir: Willamette Valley - Oregon: Tavola: 2012: United States
This is a Pinot for those who eschew the "vogue du jour" style found in too many New World Pinot Noirs these days with their austere style, mute fruit and impoverished mouthfeel.
Then ... on the other hand we have the Ponzi 2012 Tavola.
While not a "big" wine, the intense, balanced fruit and an ability to speak above a whisper in makes it a winner even for red drinkers like me. $24 average retail.
For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
