TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
Big House Wine Co - The Wine Group: Red Blend: : : 2013: United States
In the first couple of years after wine behemoth -- The Wine Group -- bought this from Randall Grahm, this was highly drinkable.
I enjoyed it. That was still true in 2009 or so when I first tried it in the octavin box (a very handy and space-friendly container.) In the following years, it steadily became dreck.
Given the gabillions of gallons of bulk wine that The Wine Group can source and the very talented people on its winemaking team, there's really no valid excuse for driving a brand into the ground.
Fortunately, the 2013 has improved greatly. Let this open up a bit and it becomes a light, of fruity, very acceptable quaffer and a good value for the money.
For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
