TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
NOTE: You can get a night-before preview of the featured wines on Instagram or this Facebook Author page.
As always, SavvyTaste.Com has my full description and opinion of this wine: Lewis Perdue's Rating of Robledo Family Winery: Red Blend: Sonoma Valley-California: Los Braceros: 2008: United States
The 2007 I bought at Safeway was probably mishandled somewhere in shipping and/or storage. I recorked after tasting. The Robledos swapped me a bottle of the 2008 and immediately dispatched a family member to trace my bottle's rout from winery to shelf and try to track down what happened.
The fruit in this new 2008 came on slowly, but it started with a powerful backbone of oak and tannin. Several hours later, the fruit came into its own with cranberry and black cherry strains mixed in with a peppery, dusty finish. This is a gutsy wine that does honor to Los Braceros.
